Concealed Carry Permit changes effective October 1st, 2022:
Per Alabama State Law, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office will no longer issue 2-, 3-, and 4-year permits.
Options are a 1-year, 5-year, or Lifetime. Age for a senior discount is 60 years old.
Permit prices for 1-year & 5-years are as follows:
Age 19-59 - 1 year $15
Age 19-59 - 5 year $75
Lifetime permit prices:
Age 19-59 -$300
Age 60+ -$150
Any person who possesses a current permit and wants to get a Lifetime permit will receive credit for the years left on their old permit towards the price of the Lifetime permit.
If a person has never had a Concealed Carry Permit in Alabama, they must first possess a permit for 5 years before they are eligible for a Lifetime permit.
18-years old are not eligible for a Lifetime permit unless they are Active-Duty Military.
Free Lifetime permits may be issued to honorably discharged veterans, (DD-214 required) in addition to the Law Enforcement permits we currently issue.
All Lifetime Permits will have a renewal date of 5 years from the date of issue. The permit holder must return in person to the Sheriff's Office. At that time a Background check will be conducted. Upon verification of no disqualifying offenses, a new Lifetime Permit will be issued with a renewal date for five years thereafter at no charge.
According to Alabama Law we are required to notify ALEA of all denied and revoked permits.
